Our Vintage Plus is set is the perfect "all rounder". The neck model offers warmth and clarity, whilst the bridge pickup can handle everything from country licks to classic rock.

The bridge pickup is wound on a grey fibreboard bobbin wrapped with white string, and a copper-plated ferrous baseplate. The Alnico rod pole pieces incorporate Tonerider's modified stagger, with a higher third and fourth string polepieces to optimise string-string balance.

The neck pickup features our in-house Nickel-Silver cover for tonal transparency, and we include wood screws for direct mounting to the body, and two #4/40 pan head screws for use when mounting the pickup to a pickguard.

Each pickup is fully wax potted to reduce any microphonic feedback, and comes supplied with screws, latex height adjustment tubing and an installation guide.

Vintage Plus Neck

First of all I love Tonerider pickups. I've purchased several types from Phat Cat P90s, Soapbar P90s, and Tele single coil pickups and they all are extremely good. Unfortunately this Vintage Plus Tele neck p/u had an issue but Glenn and his team from TR replaced it no questions asked. The new one TR sent me, works like a champ. If you are looking for gaulity pickups at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend ToneRider be who you turn to.

Vintage Plus Telecaster pickup set

Purchased this set of Tonerider Vintage Plus Telecaster pickup set. First of all, I was leary of purchasing from overseas, because of shipping. Tonerider and Royal Post communicated great, updating the progress of the shipment the whole way. The pickups actually arrived sooner than expected.

Now the really important stuff. These pickups were being installed in a Tele with a 4-Way switch, which needed an extra ground lead on the neck pickup, which Tonerider had connected for me. The pickups sound as good (if not better) than my traditional Fender Telecaster pickups and this is now my "go to" Tele. 100% happy with these pickups.

Perfect upgrade

My wife bought me this set for my birthday two months ago, and they brought new life into my old Standard Telecaster, which had the factory ceramic pickups. The stock pickups were a weak neck pickup and a harsh bridge pickup. These Vintage Plus were an obvious choice, since I play mostly 50s and 60s rock and roll, rockabilly through a clean or mostly clean amp. I was surprised how well they also handle gain and effects, for when I play 80s and 90s rock. I will definitely buy a set of Toneriders again.

great note definition

I purchased these pickups the other day for my classic vibe telecaster and they’ve completely brought it to life, great note definition and clarity and they handle gain really well which I wasn’t expecting due to their low output. I’ve bought pickups by Bareknuckle, House of Tone and the Creamery for my other guitars who are all good in their own way but charge 3 times the price of Tonerider. I was trying to save a bit of money this time round, so thought I’d give these a go after seeing the excellent demonstration videos on youtube and seeing good things on forums for many years. I’ve been blown away by how good they are. Great build quality, comes well presented and with a wiring diagram for ease. I’m already eyeing up a pair of the the Classic Blues Strat pickups. If you’re thinking about trying these out, don’t hesitate.

I bought a kit some years ago and these came with the kit. Later, I upgraded the electronics on the guitar which made a big difference and so I thought that I would upgrade my pickups as well to Seymour Duncan pickups because that's a step up, right? Well, turns out I was wrong. I was new to building guitars and swapping out pickups and disappointment was the result. I was hoping the SDs would give me the same tone only... well, better. (Again, at the time just didn't know better.) Turns out I had the tone I loved all along with these pups. I don't really use the bridge pickup unless the switch is in middle position for strumming. For lead stuff I use the neck pickup and I absolutely love the tone the Tonerider Vintage neck pickup gives me. Nice mellow lead sound when picking normally but, really snaps when hit hard: especially the G and B strings. (I bought the SDs because I thought that's what you're supposed to do, I should have saved my money.) On a side note but, relevant: Thankfully, I learned my lesson. I'm upgrading a PRS SE standard with some humbuckers and this time I'm not bothering with SDs or some other \big brand\ pickups; these Tonerider pickups are half the price and have just as good a tone-- judging from my previous "upgrade" experience. I just picked up a Squier Strat and I'll be coming to Tonerider when I do the upgrade on that..
