These pickups are just fantastic! I bought them just to put it in a spare custom Squier CV Telecaster with 2HB slots - I mostly use an SG so for me a 2HB telecaster was simply needless, so I wanted a kind of single coil solution with HB size, just to try out and get near the more Tele twang. During our last rehearsal I tested this Tele with the Rebel 90s, and it was so surprisingly wild and raw and at the same time clean and mature and organic that I just could not let go and well, since then the SG is the spare guitar! Playing in a rock band clean tones are very thick and sitting perfectly in the mix (mostly middle position), whereas tube driven parts HOWL like a tiger, the tone is very well balanced in all frequency range. This pickup gave a lot of LIFE to my guitar, try it, love it.
Depuis un moment je cherchais un set de pickups pour ma Squier affinity telecaster deluxe.
Les micros de stock ( céramiques) étaient polyvalents mais pour avoir joué une telecaster ( highway one) depuis des années j’avais envie d’un rendu moins « épais ». J’adore le manche de cette guitare, mais je cherchais un son précis. Les rebel 90 ont le format des humbuckers classiques mais délivrent un son à la fois crémeux avec une attaque délicate et bien chaleureux quand on « rentre un peu dedans ». Moins aigrelets que des single coils classique, ils ont tout de même cette acidité qui peut sans problème devenir agressifs.
Je suis satisfait de cette modification, j’adore la réponse extra lucide sur la dynamique du jeu.
Je recommande le changement des pickups sur ce type de guitare pour un son plus « personnel »
I love P90s, especially in the neck position. I hope Tonerider develops more Humbucker sized P90s, maybe with Alnico 4 for neck/bridge and a Alnico 5 for Bridge.
Put a pair of these in an Epiphone SG, very happy with the sound, look and quality of these pickups.
